An unemployed biologist got a new job at the zoo. They offered him to dress up in a gorilla's skin and pretend to be a gorilla so people will keep coming to the zoo.
On his first day on the job, the guy puts on the skin and goes into the cage. The people all cheer to see him. He starts really putting on a show, jumping around, beating his chest and roaring.
During one acrobatic attempt, he loses his balance and crashes through some safety netting, landing square in the middle of the lion cage! As he lies there stunned, the lion roars. He's terrified and starts screaming, "Help, Help!"
The lion races over to him, places his paws on his chest and hisses, "Shut up or we'll both lose our jobs!"
Every creature except for the human beings have one thing in common, all of them move only in horizontal plane. From ants to elephants, from birds to fishes, every creature's body is designed or evolved in such a way that it has remained parallel to the planes of the earth.
Because of this specific feature all creatures are grounded only to physical plane of existence unlike humans who walk with erect spine and seek more than the physical. In human form life wants an altogether different expression and experience which is beyond survival, that is why the human body is designed or evolved so markedly different from other creatures.
Compared to other creatures we are poorly equipped with physical and sensory powers, but have a highly advance reason and intellect. Using the human body and intellect only for survival purpose is an absolute abuse to its intended purpose. Once the body stands erect the force and dynamics of inner consciousness exerts a very high demand and pressure on human being to constantly move out of body consciousness.
If you hold a water bottle horizontally flat then the force of water inside the bottle would be far lower than if it we're to be vertical. Exactly the same way, the consciousness which lives through the unique form and design of human body exerts a force making all of us to seek life beyond physical survival.
No amount of physical beautification of the body, its health and fitness, external comforts and luxuries, entertainment and possessions can provide true fulfillment to our purpose of being human. Even relationships which we make with others can never give that inner security and satisfaction if we have not freed the consciousness from physical processes. The body is just a medium to bring forth the beauty of who we are, and not an end to be obsessed with.
The only reason we are made to stand erect and walk on earth with head in the heaven, is to access the higher realms of existence and experience and express heaven on earth. Once we recognize the privilege of having this human form and the immensity of being human, true spiritual life starts happening.
Spirituality is only for humanity, no animal, no God, neither the Nature or world needs spirituality. Spirituality is what makes human being to experience and live life as a human being, without spirituality a human being is just another animal!
